Jojo won't fall victim to own success, like Britney Spears

Jojo recently spoke with Teen People while she was on tour in Europe and unlike what happened lately with Britney Spears, the 16-year-old Jojo who real name is Joanna Levesque said she won't fall victim to her own success and suffer a nervous breakdown. Jojo claims her close-knit family and strict upbringing will help keep her from falling into the trap of alcohol and drugs that have destroyed many young Hollywood stars and led to Spears meltdown.

"I can't see that in my future. There are things that are more important." Referring to a breakdown fueled by alcohol abuse. Jojo added, "I don't think any sane person would see that coming - I'm sure Britney didn’t see it coming up. But I'm very close to my family and they keep me grounded, and I don't think they would ever let me do that." We hope you have a long and successful career Jojo, and stay on the straight and narrow into your adulthood.

JoJo an Alcoholic?

Fifteen-year old singer, JoJo is defending her visit to Hollywood Hyde, claiming that the visit was totally innocent. She was spotted by some paparazzi back in October.

She claims:


"I didn't know it was 21 and over," she told PEOPLE at the American Music Awards in Los Angeles. "It's a freakin' restaurant and I was there with my mom and two other underage friends. I had milk and cookies! I wasn't drinking alcohol."

And even though she says her evening at Hyde "was great," don't expect to see her hitting the nightclub circuit any time soon. "It's not really my thing. I just dipped my toes (in the scene)."

Look, just because she’s 15 doesn’t mean that JoJo isn’t allowed in night clubs, ok?!?

The singer, who caused a mini-scandal in October when she was spotted at L.A.’s Hyde Lounge, recently defended her trip there. Without confirming rumors of a Jessica Biel/Derek Jeter dance floor pairing, JoJo said:

“I didn’t know it was 21 and over … It’s a freakin’ restaurant and I was there with my mom and two other underage friends. I had milk and cookies! I wasn’t drinking alcohol.”

Of course, they were magic cookies, the kind Pete Doherty eats. And the milk was 2%. But neither of those possibly untrue facts means that the child will be visiting Hyde again:

“It’s not really my thing. I just dipped my toes (in the scene).”

Meanwhile, the singer (real name: Joanna Levesque) turns 16 on December 20 and still won’t be able to legally imbibe for five years. But that hasn’t stopped her from landing a top-10 hit with “Too Little Too Late.”

Critics and fans have compared JoJo to Mariah Carey and Beyoncé (who she calls “my biggest role model”). Our staff thinks she’s just the latest example of how young stars are getting, however.

There’s just no telling where we’ll see JoJo - or Ali Lohan - next. But someone may wanna check Wilder Valderrama’s bedroom.

JoJo Rocks Step Up Awards

She’s definitely coming into her own as a woman, and last night pop singer JoJo was hamming it up at the Step Up Women’s Network’s 10th Anniversary Inspiration Awards Gala.

The 17-year-old songbird posed like a pro for the paparazzi outside the IAC Building in New York City sporting a very sexy pink and silver cleavage-baring gown.

Having already sold more than five million albums worldwide, she has big plans for her third album, currently titled All I want is Everything slated for release later this year.

In an April 2008 interview at the Hearst Tower for the “Ultimate Prom” party, JoJo stated that she is writing and producing her new album in Boston and Atlanta. She has also lined up producers Timbaland, Tank, Polow da Don, DJ Toomp and gospel artist J. Moss, though the music will remain “secular”.
